HGV / LGV
Large goods vehicle (LGV) drivers, also known as HGV (heavy goods vehicle) drivers, transport and deliver goods between suppliers and customers. With an LGV licence you would be able to drive commercial vehicles of over 7.5 tonnes, which includes rigid and articulated lorries, tankers, transporters and trailer wagons.
Doyle School of Driving's training courses for rigid and articulated trucks will give you the skills and knowledge necessary to start your driving career.
Future requirements for new drivers:
CPC - Certificate of Professional Competence
From September 2009 a new EU Directive comes into force: All new LGV drivers will need to gain a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) as well as a licence, known as a Driver CPC. Existing drivers will not have to pass the Driver CPC but all drivers will be required to take 35 hours of training in every five-year period.
